Questions retailers ask
Which Hong Thai products were recalled?
One production lot of one product: Hong Thai Brand Herbal Inhaler Formula 2, lot 000332, made on 9 December 2024 with an expiry of 8 December 2027. The recall was by lot, not by formula, so Formula 2 jars from other lots were not part of it.
Is Hong Thai legal to sell in Singapore?
Yes. HSA said that, going by its labelling, the inhaler is considered a traditional medicine and is not subject to HSA approval or licensing for import, manufacture or sale. HSA's action on the recall was to advise anyone holding lot 000332 to stop using it and to ask Shopee, Lazada and Carousell to remove listings of that lot.
Is the Hong Thai you supply from the recalled lot?
No. None of the Hong Thai we supply is from lot 000332.
How do I check a jar?
The lot number and the manufacture and expiry dates are printed on the jar and its box. Look for lot 000332, or the pairing of a 9 December 2024 manufacture date with an 8 December 2027 expiry. Anything else was not part of the recall.
What about the factory raids?
On 30 October 2025 Thai police and the FDA raided production sites linked to the brand, after finding the company was licensed to produce at one site in Bangkok's Bang Khae district but had been producing at three other sites in Samut Sakhon without approval. Over two million inhalers and balms were seized. That was about where the goods were made, which is why buying from a supplier who can name the lot and issue a proper invoice matters.
Did Malaysia ban Hong Thai?
Malaysia's health ministry said on 6 November 2025 that Hong Thai Formula 2 is not registered with its pharmaceutical regulator and that selling unregistered medicines is an offence there. That is Malaysian law. Singapore treats the product as a traditional medicine, as above.
